Laem Ka Beach
Laem Ka Beach is a quaint, hidden away beach not far from Rawai Beach, this 150 metre long beach, flanked by boulders, is the perfect getaway from the crowds. To get to Laem Ka Beach, from Chalong Circle, you follow the road to Rawai and just after the Laguna bar complex and opposite the temple gates, there is a 7-Eleven – next to that is a small road heading east that you will lead there.
Laem Ka is a beautiful quiet beach, popular with local families at the weekends, for its calm waters that are safe for the kids to swim in and sheltered areas under the trees. It is one of the few beaches on the eastern facing coast of Phuket that is suitable for swimming. Set against the turquoise clear tropical sea, the views of the nearby islands of Koh Bon, Koh Lone and Coral Island are outstanding.
During the high season (November to April) there are normally vendors on the beach selling drinks and barbequed food, but it would be wise to stock up with snacks and water from the nearby convenience stores.
The Phuket Dragons Boat Club hold regular gatherings here that liven up the late afternoons – and all are welcome to watch or participate in training sessions.
After a day at this peaceful little beach you may enjoy the thriving nightlife as a contrast. There are many excellent restaurants close to Laem Ka Beach and plenty of lively bars and pubs. For the more adventurous the nearby Laguna complex has a nightclub that stays open until the wee hours.
